My pineapple photo series, Mauritius edition.
At the age of 18, a trip alone to a foreign land was the best gift my parents could have given me..Tensed yet excited, ecstatic yet responsible, this experience has been unexpectedly life changing.. It gave me a deeper understanding of the world and now I see it in a new light.. Indulging into scuba diving, sight seeing, relishing the local cuisines and soaking up the beauty- I had found heaven on earth ” Mauritius “..
I forgot to mention a key point in my story.. I was alone yet not lonely, since I had company.. that was both native and natural..Confused??? Okay, let me elaborate.. She – yes she – makes cocktails tangier, fruit salads sweeter and is an integral part of the tropical Mauritian lifestyle.. Famous as she is, she also features in sirandanes( local riddles) and funny creole expressions!
Meet my friend ‘ Victoria’ .. she’s been loyally by my side through all the diving and driving!!
I had planned a photo series which would show the beauty of this tropical island with its favorite tropical fruit as the heroine! So here’s unfolding my pineapple series!!
P.S – I would like to thank Vimla and Nandkumar Vedpathak for helping me complete my pineapple series..
Right from welcoming me at the airport, to taking the time out to show me around, to giving me rides back to my hotel( a good 20 minutes away); They were the most warm, happy and cheerful couple I had encountered during my trip…
